Alan Smith
 Alan Smith - celebrated 39 years as a trainer/lecturer in a variety of air/travel industry disciplines in mid-2008. A holder of the IATA/UFTAA Advanced Travel Agents Diploma, as well as BA1, BA2 and BA3, Alan has been using GDS systems since 1990, with Amadeus experience of 11 years, 6 of which were spent training in Sweden. If asked to sum up one training quality possessed, the response would have to be 'Patience'.
Memorable moments in Alan's career have mainly involved flexibility and adjustment, like the time training in Southern Africa when the classroom was destroyed overnight by a tropical storm. Training took place the next day, under a tree, teaching IATA Fares and Ticketing with chalk and blackboard. Closer to home, there was Fares training in Italy using an interpreter, as no-one spoke English - a fact not known till he got there.
